For Example:
You are at Wal-Mart or Target, in your cart you have 50 or 60 cans of pet food and a large bag of Gravy Train.

Common sense says: This person has pets, feeds stray animals or is planning to donate this to the local SPCA.

For some reason this never fails: A clerk or person in line says, "Oh, do you have a _________?"( dog, cat, whatever)

Do you Smile, say, "Yes" and leave it at that.
OR?
Are you a "true-Smart-@ss", and come back with witty comments?

Our family has always been the latter

My favorite comeback belongs to my late hubby.
"No, we run a Nursing Home."
He never cracked a smile and looked totally serious.
(It took everything I had to maintain composure.)

I had the happen to me 3 weeks ago. I bought 20 cans of cat food. We only have two cats but we like to keep stocked up. The male behind the counter says, "My lord, look at all these kitty goodies. You must have cats?"
I replied with, "No, I throw these cans at the neighbors."

My daughter will say in retort: "my but you have a firm grasp of the obvious!"

I like to use witty comments when they are appropriate. Like when I have the nozzle of the gas hose in my tank and am running my credit card through the machine and someone asks if I am going to pay with cash or credit. SIGH. Dilbert calls them inDUHviduals.

I call poeple who ask questions like that "masters of the obvious". As long as arent a jerk when you reply, I would make a joke just because thats the kind of person that I am. Sometimes its fun to goof with people as long as they dont get bent out of shape about it.
