"I can tell you that the decisions we made, we made because we thought they were in the interests of the American people,"

--Bill Clinton, on being asked why he signed waivers, against the Pentagon's protest, to sell Loral missile guidance systems technology to Communist China, enabling China for the first time to launch nuclear weapons.

Oh, wait .... I think I just found a part of the puzzle...

"The Justice Department is also investigating whether the administration's decision was influenced by domestic campaign contributions from executives of two American aerospace companies that had been lobbying to get the restrictions eased--Loral Space Communications and Hughes Electronics. Loral Chairman Bernard Schwartz gave the Democrats more than $600,000 before the '96 elections, making him the party's largest single contributor that year. President Clinton insisted that contributions had not influenced the decision to let China launch American satellites."

Bill Clinton made a lot of stupid decisions. This is just one of them. There was a lot going on behind the scenes between China and the Clinton administration, or at least it appears that way. Unfortunately, most of it got swept under the rug.

However, there is no real proof that Clinton intentionally acted against the interest of this country. Yes he provided the guidance system. The argument would be you need more than a guidance system to launch a nuclear ICBM.

China is something we might have to deal with in the future. For right now, the primary threat to this country is Islamic terrorism.

Well, to be honest with you I don't understand why he did it. It amounts to treason. Then again he had more information about what was going on than you and I will ever have.
