ps3 is better
NO WAY THEYRE NOT GONNA PUT BLU RAY IN XBOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- ps3 has a built-in blu-ray player
- ps3 has much more and better exclusives, most of them cant go to xbox 360 because it cant handle that many data(DVD- 8.5gb, blu-ray 50gb)
- online is free for ps3 not like 360
- ps3 will have over 300 games released by this spring
- when developers get used to the system, the graphics will be WAY better than 360. should take them a year to get used to it
- playstation home is coming out this spring, its a virtual community where you can hang out with friends and customize your own apartment which xbox doesnt have(FREE)
- ps3 is a true HD console. xbox 360 upscale games to 1080p and ps3 DISPLAY games up to 1080p
- built in Wi-Fi
- xbox 360: 33% hardware failure
ps3: .2% hardware failure(see the decimal? less than 1%!)
- rumble returns in spring 2008
- you can upgrade your harddrive without voiding warranties with any 2.5 HDD, which xbox cant because you have to buy a xbox HDD
(they actually have the step by step on how to upgrade it on playstation.com)
those are the ones that i know right off my mind but there are much more reason than this
Prices as of today:
ps3- 80gb: $599
60gb: $499
xbox 360(premium)- $399 (if you want the accessories that ps3 comes with, that would add up to over 700 dollars)

The PS3 is more expensive because it has better hardware and plays Blu-Ray. Blu-Ray is supposed to be the next DVD but I doubt it. Even though the PS3 has more potential for better graphics, it still has yet to outshine the 360. I would personally go with the 360. The controller is much improved and handles better then the PS3 controller. Oh, and the PS3 controller has no rumble for some reason? Stupid to take it out. Anyways, not only this, but the 360 also has much, much, much better games out right now. PS3 fanboys can deny it, but its true. PS3 has Motorstorm and Resistance: Fall of Man. All its other good games are also for the 360 and sometimes even the Wii. Oh, and guess what? They look AND run smoother on the 360. Funny, since the hardware isn't as good. Pretty much the only exclusive game franchises left for the PS3, that Microsoft hasn't bought, is Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy. If you like an abundance of RPGs however, let me warn you that the 360 won't have many. The kind of RPGs that they will have are more americanized ones. Like the Elderscrolls IV: Oblivion and Mass Effect. Which, I think is better then Final Fantasy. If you like sports, shooting, action, and racing games then the 360 has those flying out of its @$$. Not to mention it gets great music games like Guitar Hero and the upcoming Rock Band. Right now, the 360 is the prime choice. More affordable with better games coming out right now AND in the future. The PS3 needs to get itself out of the grave its dug itself soon. Hopefully Metal Gear Solid 4 can change that. If it seems like I'm a little too positive about the 360, then there is one thing, they have a habbit of "breaking". They heat up easy and the cheaply made motherboard gets fried. Fortunately, for you, there was a price drop of the 360 from $399 to $349. These new price dropped models (along with the black xbox 360 elite) sport better, cooler, chipsets. This means no more overheating for your 360. So no worries. The 360s are fixed and running fine. Now, go out and buy one!

There are many differences between the Xbox 360 and the PS3. Go to both Microsoft and Sony's website and compare the differences.

Xbox 360
+Good game library
+Good online
-Overheats easily 30% failure rate
-have to buy things like wifi adapter and HDDVD drive seperatly
-you have to pay for online
PS3
+Solid system that has a very low failure rate 0.2%
+more features like built in wifi and built in bluray
+online is free
-not alot of games out yet
-online doesnt have as much content as 360
No they are not adding bluray technology to the 360 it runs on DVDS. The 360 also plays HD DVDS but you have to buy a seperate drive.

xbox 360-
A: more list of games, more exclusives, better online, great online games, decent backward compatible, and put stuff on your hard drive.
D: half the genres are shooters, still can't play all xbox games, xbox live is not free, and techinal problems with red ring of death.
ps3-
A: decent list of games, cheapest blu ray player, good backward compatible, region free for ps3 games, good online games and free online without paying.
D: less exclusives, too expensive for a system, cannot play all ps1 and ps2 games yet, region locked for ps1 and ps2 games, and the online feel a little limited.

This is my cut and paste answer. The reason for that is because a tech info is a tech info, you can't beat it.
PS3 will win the console war, no doubt. Xbox 360 and Wii are so weak from technological point of view, that in couple of years they won't be capable of dealing with serious graphics. GTA IV, for instance, isn't even announced for Wii - this toy won't be able to cope with the game's requirements. Xbox 360 is getting GTA IV, however, the game is going to be released on several DVDs - Xbox 360 owners will have to interrupt gaming process and switch discs (Rockstar complained about this issue). Only PS3 will have it on single BD-DVD.
Let's compare PS3 and XBOX 360:
A third of XBOX 360 (33%) are malfunctioning right from the start. PS3 return rate is only around 0.2%.
PS3 has 8 (7+1) kernels in Cell processor, Xbox 360 -only 3.
PS3 uses advanced tech called Blu-Ray, one disc can store up to 54 gb (in the future - up to 200 gb), Xbox 360 - regular dual layer DVD-9 (8.5GB). It's possible to get HD-DVD (max. - 30GB) for 360, but it'll cost you around 180$, in this case Xbox is going to be MUCH more expensive, than PS3.
Calculations per sec - PS3 - 51-billion-dot-product-operati... per second
Xbox 360 - 33.6-billion-dot-product-opera... per second
PS3 has full media support - USBs, built-in 4 slots card reader (except 20GB and 40GB versions), ability to use printer and so on.
Xbox 360 has USBs and only 2 memory slots.
PS3 supports up to 7 Bluetooth Controllers
Xbox 360 - up to 4 Controllers
PS3 - wi-fi included (except 20 gb version)
Xbox 360 - wi-fi will cost you around 100 $
Graphics are stronger in PS3, due to RSX chip, that was developed by Nvidia exclusively for PS3. To estimate its power (roughly) - take 6800 Ultra nvidia graphics card, multiply it by 2 - get a result, still PS3 stronger, because 6800 Ultra runs on 400 Mhz and RSX runs on 550 Mhz.
PS3 uses technology from AGEIA company. It does to physics of the game same thing GPU (videocard processor) does to graphics. This thing is on sale for PC(special card). The price is around 350$. There is no such thing in 360.
Xbox 360 is widely known for so-called "red ring of death" problem - it gets overheated easily. My PS3 was running for more than 8 hours non-stop with no problems. Sometimes Xbox 360 becomes so overheated, that thermopaste on CPU melts, drips on motherboard and successfully shortcircuits it. That's why in some countries people call Xbox 360 "Coffin 360".
Besides all of this, I've seen disassembled Xbox 360 - regular PC architecture - Billy Gates is an uninventive nerd (as usual).
When I saw disassembled PS3 - it was a surprise - smart architecture, good cooling (don't buy external PS3 coolers - they make everything worse - original system is good), etc.
In 2008 PS3 will get more than 300 games, including Metal Gear Solid 4, The Agent and other great exclusives. Here is the good link to the future PS3 releases. http://ps3.ign.com/index/release.html......
PS3 online is free, Xbox 360 - you have to pay.
There were reports, that 360 scratches discs. No reports on that in PS3.
The funniest thing, that right now there are no games for PS3, that show full potential of the console. Biggest games weigh only 25 GB (Xbox 360 will need more than 3 discs even for those).
On PS3 you can install other OS, such as Linux Yellow Dog, Ubuntu and others. Sony officially lets you do it. There is no such thing in 360.
PS3 HDD can be replaced easily with any 2.5" SATA 5400 RPM HDD (used in laptops). 250 GB will cost you around 170$. In 360 you have to buy exclusive HDD, where 20GB will cost you 100$.
Sony expects PS3 to stay on the market for, at least, 7-10 years. Also Sony reduces price now. Soon there is going to be cheaper 40GB version of PS3.
Sony constantly upgrades PS3 software (free updates for OS) - you get new functions and improvements.
PS3 controller (sixaxis) has a motion control - you move controller - game responds. Wii has it, Xbox 360 - doesn't. PS3 controller is getting vibrocontroller soon (Dualshock 3).
On PS3 you can help sick people by running Folding Home project. Wii and Xbox 360 didn't even think about it.
New 40GB is coming with a lower prive between around 400$ and 400 euros (depends on the region).
I didn't mention Wii, because it's so weak, no point to talk about it. Leave it for kindergarten and casual games.
