The purpose of language is to communicate ideas and emotions. Sesquipedalianisms may well be beyond the realm of comprehension for most uneducated Philistines, but that does not mean to say that we should all resort to grunts and squeaks as a means by which to communicate. Given that the average person has a marginal propensity towards in-articulation, rather than magniloquence or belletristic hyperbole, polysyllabic responses are, indubitably a "consummation devoutly to be wished", where concomitant to, and commensurate with, their veracity and profundity.
I concur with Your prognostication pertaining to this subject.
