I just had an overnight hospital sleep clinic test for blood oxygen and was told that. So since it is now midnight and am tired, the first person to find the other two things that comprise the air we breath gets the 10. I could find it myself but feel like giving someone 10 points tomorrow hopefully.

Yes, I knew that. Oxygen by itself is highly combustible. The other two main gases in the air we breath is nitrogen (78%) and 1% 1% argon, helium, carbon dioxide, and other gases.

Most of the air is nitrogen, however, by itself, nitrogen is deadly because of the reverse osmosis of oxygen. How it works is oxygen will always gravitate toward the direction where the least amount of oxygen is concentrated. When you fill your lungs with pure nitrogen, the oxygen from your brain will rush toward your lungs. After about 5 to 10 seconds of exposure to pure nitrogen, you will lose enough oxygen to your brain to cause death.

Actually there are 10.

Here are 10 gases that make up clean air: In order of highest to lowest concentration they are Nitrogen, Oxygen, Argon, Carbon dioxide, Neon, Helium, Methane (CH4), Krypton, Hydrogen, and Xenon.

We need oxygen to metabolize, not nitrogen. Our body has very little use for the nitrogen in the air.

Ask any scientist and he/she should be able to tell you the rest is made of nitrogen 78% and argon almost 1%....with traces of carbon dioxide...neon, helium, and a few other gases.

Yes, I did. Thank you college level geosystems. Our air is 79% nitrogen.
