3rd hands down. I learned so much, had a challenging, gifted teacher who introduced us to so much in the world that sometimes was beyond our years (examples: he let us watch TV reports about Anwar Sadat, gave me fascinating books about the Underground Railroad and Harriet Tubman) but was protective and respectful. We did fun assignments like go through the phone book to simultaneously help our spelling, alphabetizing, cross-referencing, logic. He introduced us to the wonders of Godiva chocolate! He took us on field trips to the ballet and plays and comforted me after my family suffered an enormous tragedy. He gave us structure, balance and boundaries and at the same time indulged and introduced us to both the complex and simple pleasures of life.

He cared.

He was one of the most incredible people I've ever known. I still have friends to this day who had him as a teacher and they agree he was the best teacher ever.

It was truly a magical, beautiful year that I will remember until I go. And it was 3rd grade! :)

5th Grade, it was my favorite grade by far, and the one right before Hell took place in Middle School.

8th grade. I don't know why, it was just a good year for me. I also liked freshman year in high school.
