I have had 6 computers in my life. 2 growing up they were my parents computers but I used them.
Then I got an off the shelf PC for myself about 8 years ago. Then I custom build my own piece of crap PC which I though was good but was poorly made. Then I got myself a $3000 gaming PC and updated it over a few years. and about 6 months ago I spent $5500 on a new gaming computer and put about an extra $1200 worth of upgrades into it sense I got it.
I am now budgeting for my next $2000 upgrade in 12 months.
And finally within 2 years I plan on buying a new $3000-$6000 pc with quad-core, ready drives , and renewed windows vista. and I hope that quad PCI-E motherboards are actually good in a few years from now.

This laptop is 9 months old, the computer in the office right side, 3 years old, left side 4 years. the computer in my son's room runs win 98 one drive win 2000 the other, Dell hybrid. I have a 386 x 4 upgraded to 24 in the garage that still has a bootable version of win 3.1 and the old commodore went in the trash about 1989. It last 9/10 years
