Hmmm....My all time favorite... There are so many!
The first that comes to mind is "West Side Story". I like the music but I guess initially I like it because it tells of how two cultures clash. Maria and Tony overcome differences and get "married" despite great opposition. It reminds me of my parents. Not as dramatic though. Mom is white & dad is black. Not only did love help them break the barrier but salvation in Christ did.
I like tragic movies. Movies that end sadly or realisticly. It's my realistic side coming out. Henceforth I love "Gone with the Wind". Just great! The spoiled brat got what she deserved.
Also I love anything with Barbara Stanwyck and all 'non war' movies with Gregory Peck.
There is soo... much more! :)

The Day the Earth Stood Still.
Science fiction is my favorite genre. This movie was the first truly intelligent and reasonably sophisticated mainstream sci-fi film that delivered relevant social commentary in a non-melodramatic way.
