nobody today would exist right? There would be different people right now other than everyone here right now. This has been on my mind for a while. Who agrees that this is real, lets just say again that Rome never fell, none of us would be here right now right? So, the littlest things can change time? IDK I'm bored and I want to see what you guys think. Thanks!

I agree! It's always interesting to imagine what the present would be like if X didn't happen. For example, where would I be now if I tried to work in international business instead of teaching? What would conversation would I have missed if my friend and I were not on the same El train by accident?

The possibilities are endless.

I'm bored also and trying get to level 2.

It is impossible to predict what MAY have happened. If, for instance, Washington never existed - who's to say that another individual wouldn't have stepped into that role? Or maybe the replacement didn't do as good of a job and the British won - we might all be here, but the global power structure would be entirely different.

And relatively speaking, Rome falling isn't a little thing. Imagine going back in time to the prehistoric era - all you do is sneeze - and then come right back. What affect might those germs and bacteria in your sneeze have had? Would it have caused a sort of immunization, preventing such epidemics as the great plague that wiped out 1/4 of the population? Or would it have CAUSED an epidemic - the entire WORLD POPULATION could be entirely different.

Deep.

I believe that you can't talk about the past like you can the future. The past is already done you can't change it. So why even bother in trying to think of what would happen if it did change.

Yes, of course. Your parents met by chance. Had they not met, you would not be here. Imagine if Adolf Hitler had been a girl. etc etc.

BUT, this is the Astronomy section...
