that test for lead on your children's toys?

The way things are going...I may get one, but I've heard varying opinions about if they work or not.

Kimbabub: Everyday on the news, I keep hearing about different toys that are getting pulled because of lead paint on them. To me, it seems like a serious issue, but maybe it's media hype. Sometimes it's hard telling. I've just been thinking having a "Lead Testing Kit" would help me know what toys we have at home are safe or not. But according to news reports, there's some varying opinions if they work or not. I may still get one anyways.

IEM: Good Idea, to get a kit that is guaranteed by Good Housekeeping and/or checking with Consumer Guide!

I didn't even know they were available to us. I guess I hadn't given that any real thought but now that you brought it up, it makes good sense. Thanks! Even if they give varying reports on them, I think it would be a good idea to buy one that may be guaranteed by a company such as "Good Housekeeping" or someone such as that who has checked it out--or maybe check with "Consumer Guide".

Rather than a lead testing kit
~+~ make sure your child doesm't put the toy in their mouth and chew on it.

The FDA is doing a real good job of finding leaded items! ~+~ that's why it's in the news!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think u hav anything to worry about - over reaction?XOXO,
Pepe

if your child isn't exibiting signs of lead poisoning, don't waste your money, if he is, just get rid of the toys, the symptoms will go away when the source is removed......worry about long term or permanent effects if you live in a house that is more than 30 years old & you're worried about lead based paint.

bottom line is you're worrying way too much

No. Just supervise your children and don't let them chew on things. It's destructive and not good for their teeth. I wanna know how everyone over 50 lived so long with all these dangers around undetected.
