So I started a holiday, Peace on Earth Day. (It's the Saturday before Christmas for now.)

All the traditions aren't ironed out yet, but basically you do something to promote peace, at any level.

Invite someone over for dinner and just talk with them. This will help you understand people and that will help you understand the motivations of others.

You can act more globally and give to a charity, or set up a discussion or a debate about issues. (Debate can be civil.) Or write a letter to a government representative letting them know you expect them to work towards peace (and let them know what you think peace means as well).

Start promoting peace by taking it to heart and leading by example. It will get noticed. The world keeps getting smaller.

Call me a cynic, but world peace is an ideology. There never has been world peace, and there never will be. Racism, sexism, tribalism, morality issues, politics, religious differences...these things have existed for ages. Besides, everyone has different points of view, which lead to disagreements which lead to egos being blown out of proportions which lead to people getting hurt and/or dying.

To co-exist regardless of our differences, even though we may disagree with or dislike each other--now that's a beautiful thought I will pray for. But world peace?? No such thing.

well I think a good start would be a truly international, (not the first world deciding what everyone "should think"), truth and reconciliation commission, followed by real international reimbursements for labor and taken assets, the removal of all military bases that are not in their country of origin, the removal of organizations that are sanctioned to effect international power through force (i.e. the CIA), and the requirement of absolute fair trade.

Might not take care of everything but it would help out a great deal.

There will never be world peace as long as there two people on earth. Remember Cain and Able. War is not an invention of the right wing of the USA. There has always been wars and there always will be wars. It is a sign of you immaturity if you spout fairy tail theories like how do we achieve world peace. Either that or it is an example of you out of control drug usage. Sober up, join the adult world and try to face the worlds problems with some real world answers.

Can't happen. Since before the first written words there has been organized warfare, that will never change. Two oldest professions on earth are 1. Prostitution 2. Military. and it will remain that way for perpetuity.

A great start would be to empty the world's nuclear warhead supply on the middle east, detonating every last one until every hate mongering Islamic murderer is dead. When that's done, then we can begin discussing what needs to be done among the more rational human beings on the planet.

You get into a room with a bunch of tyrants and extremists and discuss with them just how they are going to kill you.
