I work as a server at a fine dining restaurant.Today a couple of my coworkers (both have worked together before and are friends) decided to share with me how they have taken revenge on rude customers and practical 'jokes'.They told horrenduous stories of spitting in food, dropping food on the floor and serving it on purpose, drinking out of customers glasses and then watching at a distance and laughing as the customer drank unknowingly, and even putting gum under pepperoni on pizza before it was cooked. I said for them to stop telling me, because I was sickened by the fact that they thought this was funny. They then said, 'no, you don't understand! They deserved it!' I said no one deserves that. They continued trying to convince me. I said I don't care how rude someone is, no one deserves that. I was so disgusted especially to be working with servers who think this behaviour is appropriate.Worse, now I am afraid they may do something to my drinks or food. What do u think i should do?

The two of them were talking about past jobs. They have not done any of those things at this restaurant that I know of. I do know the health hazards. I do not have any proof since they have not done anything at this restaurant. I don't want to be the troublemaker. Should I tell my manager about this?

Great to know that we still have some high class servers who cares about the customers. Your right no one deserves this type of treatment. If someone is being rude the best way to get them back is to kill the with kindness. Regarding whether you should tell the manager is a tricky one, because they have not committed any of these acts there and it would be hard to discredit them if their job performances have been okay.

Uh YES! That is so sick and wrong! I've heard rumors of people doing that, but never really believed this happens. Anyone who would do that is an idiot.

Like you said you have no proof that they've done it at your restaurant. I would flat out ask them if they have and if they say yes tell the manager.

It happens, and it is gross. I would tell, perhaps a note that says something like, Tom and Jane may be jeopardizing the helth of customers by.....

And, this is a no-brainer, DO NOT eat anything from them, near them, with them....

Yes, that is really disgusting. Someone could get really sick just because they want some revenge. You should tell the manager.

Maybe write an anonymous note to your manager and hopefully one or both will get caught and fired...you just can't justify that type of behavior--mostly when you never know who will really suffer for it!

I would not eat or drink anything there that is for sure. they might be talking out of their butts and making it all up. but I would not take that chance. as for reporting them if you have proof I would.
