Even though you bought the mail box, it is still federal property. Only the mailman and you can put mail in your box.

I was told this during the Vietnam war, canvasing neighborhoods with anti war literature. The mailbox is off limits.

Can a person be arrested? Technically yes. More then likely no, but could receive a warning, or even a fine.

Peace

Jim

When we lost our dog my kids put flyers in mailboxes with our phone number and a pic of the dog.Little did we know we can get fined because only the mail carrier can put things in the mail. She did nothing wrong though by going just in your yard as anybody who might knock at your door can do it and not break the law.

Yes, it is against the law. It is a Federal offense to get into another person's mailbox.

howdy with 23 year previous adult males lol, in any case he's worst than a drama queen. tell him immediately up which you have been harm regarding the scene he led to at your social gathering and which you do not relish what he did after wards besides. tell him which you do now decide to talk to him, and if he retains insisting tell him you will call the law enforcement officers and characteristic a restraining order against him (just to scare him off), of direction in case you place a restraining order the group will go through and not using a participant.

have you ever heard of anyone being arrested for putting an enevelope in a mailbox? I haven't! She was't stealing any of your mail so there's nothing you can do. But you must be a little wimp if you're that afraid of your ex wife especially if she is only putting a letter in your mailbox.

Technically, I don't think so.

Unless she has a history of threatening you, damaging your property - let it go.

Was the "something" she put in your mailbox a piece of mail for you or a note or message for you to read? If so...really really let it go.

It is illegal. I heard it straight from a police officer when I called to complain about a neighbor being parked in my back yard. I said something about leaving them a note in their mailbox and he said that was against the law for me to do that. Oops. Now, I know. lol!

No, your not allowed to put any mail without postage in anyone's mailbox. It's a crime. Tampering with mail , maybe?
I would report her to the police and get a report, just in case you find something she has done later.

No, it is not. It's rather serious crime since the mail is federal. Your mailbox is off limits to anyone but the mailman. You can get her into serious trouble if you want to press charges.
