You can send an instant message (IM) when you log on to Yahoo Messenger (or some other similar websites) if you and the other person you wish to send the message, are both on the same website's IM facility.
A Short Message Service (SMS) is a messge you send to another person from your phone on to another person's cellphone.

I'll answer your question by saying probably not. I read the three references below. As an example of my lack of understanding, the first reference says this: "It is true that an individual molecule of CO2 has a short residence time in the atmosphere. However, in most cases when a molecule of CO2 leaves the atmosphere it is simply swapping places with one in the ocean. Thus, the warming potential of CO2 has very little to do with the residence time of CO2." What that means, I don't know. From what I do gather, mean residence time equals turnover time. For CO2 in the atmosphere, that figure is about 5 years. However, it appears clear that if we stop emitting all CO2 from fossil fuels, CO2 levels will not drop to pre-industrial levels in five years. I'll call that removal time and frankly I don't know how it is calculated but it appears that many estimate to be one hundred years or more.
