Recently, the Liberal Party appears to be in disarray. As a result, if an election were to be held, the current minority Conservative government would be in a good position to pick up a majority. However, the Prime Minister has promised not to call an early election. Newspaper stories are hinting that he may use the Throne Speech (and declaring other proposals as confidence votes) to either force the opposition to back down on key issues or to force them to be responsible for an early election. What do you think the Prime Minister is trying to do and will there be an election this fall/winter?

He might want to call it because he has a minority authorities and would't get something performed. he's hoping to get more suitable seats. The Primeminister, Governor wide-spread or Queen can call an election any time they opt for.
