I prefer a man. I think I have always had the worst haircuts by women. A man can see better, what suites a women's face. And a women can see better, what suits a man's face.

I, too, prefer male hair stylists and as you said, particularly for cuts. They always seem to be able to envision what looks best on me and what works best with hair.

I had the same stylist for over 15 years, until he died...now RARELY go to a salon.

mm.
I gotta go with woman.
I can see how you fell about a man being more able to tell what suits a woman, but honestly I've had better experiences with a female.
From my past, I've noticed that some guys will try and be all cozy with you while they're cutting your hair.
I think that's just so immature and terrifying!
I mean I would have gotten this weird screwed up layered haircut if I hadn't snapped the man back to reality.
But also, I believe woman have a better sense of fashion and the self-conciousness women feel about their hair.
Therefore doing a better job!
But this is simply my opinion.

I only had a man do my hair for a year at one time, and he
was great. He was very effeminate but he did know how to
cut to a womans' face and have the style flatter her more. He
cut so quickly and light you hardly felt him touching your hair.
He claimed to know all of the gay hair greats of Hollywood.
And he told me that the guy, Jose Ebert, wore a fake braid
in his cowboy hat, and never took the hat off anywhere in
public. And that he was bald as a billiard on top. I had to
laugh that he knew that secret. He clearly felt that Ebert was
full of his own self importance. I think my stylist was a bit
envious of Eberts' notoriety tho. As he went on and on about
him. My stylist was married, and his wife was his partner and
both cut hair and styled. He had a repetitive clientele and it
was hard to find an open appointment with him. He was an
artist.
But I would have to say the majority of women I've had did
mostly chop jobs since I have worn my hair short since my
younger days. And when I would find someone with talent,
they'ed invariably pass on to some other shop, never leaving
a location where they could be reached. So for many years,
I cut and styled my own hair out of desparation. I figured I
could chop as good as anyone else. and for the best price.
It was free!!!
I currently have a woman who does family cuts from her own
little shop. And she has more business than she knows what
to do with. She doesn't take appointments, only drop ins'. So
when you stop by and her seating is filled, you come back
later and try again. She is a bargain, at only $5.00. My gawd,
that's straight out of the past pricing. And we always get our
money's worth! LOL

I prefer some one older, either a man or a woman, I find the young ones don't listen.

I prefer to have my Hair cut, by a Woman because I have always liked the way they have always cut it, If for some reason I am not satisfied with it, She always cuts it the way I tell her to.

A woman cuts my hair now, it's be awhile since I had a man cut it. I'm ok with either though as long as they cut it the way I ask them to.

It has to be a man, the only times I have let a woman cut my hair, it has been a disaster.

I have had my hair done by both, but lately the men who have cut my hair have done a horrible job and I had to go back and have someone else fix what he did. I'm not too particular, as long as they listen to what I want done and do a good job.

I prefer men to cut my hair. Most men, in my area, who are "stylists", are very much into femininity, themselves. So, these guys tend to go the "extra mile" to make my cut very stylish and one which frames my features.

Yep, I prefer the guys to style my hair.
