9/11 was the best thing to happen to Bush. Look at his popularity figures over time.

You can easily see that without 9/11 and the subsequent wars, Bush's popularity would have sunk to the 30 % it is now an would never have risen. He certainly wouldn't have been able to steal a second term.
And yet 9/11 represents a great failure on Bush's part. He came into office simply not caring about terrorism. Clinton's outgoing people tried to warn him but nobody on the Bush team is going to listen to anyone on the Clinton team.
Hillary has a legitimate point to make about terrorism. Bush is using the fight against terrorism to justify the agenda he had coming into office--taking out Saddam, fascism at home, selling out to his corporate buddies. But if he had done a better job to start with, 9/11 might not even have happened in the first place.

It's because the democrat supporters believe whatever they hear from their icons. If a dem politicians says, republicans are tasteless for using 9/11 as an issue for their campaign, and it is ok for dems to do it because they are true patriots, well, they believe. For them it comes down to what they can do, not why they do it.

Actually the person talking about Bush's Handiwork is dead wrong. Since Clinton had advance knowledge (briefed in '96) its actually the handiwork of Bill Clinton and his merry men.
