You also might want to try some different fundraisers. If you try to sell candy outside walmart every weekend until May, people are going to get sick of seeing you there. Not to mention, in most of the US it is going to get pretty darn cold pretty soon. I'd suggest that you try raking leaves, then shoveling snow in your neighborhood. You might also try getting a regular job after school--if your parents are letting you go to Montana without them, I certainly hope you are over 14. Grocery stores always need baggers and cart retrievers, esp in winter--you can get $1980 in just a few months if you work hard and save what you earn. And when your parents see how hard you are working, I'm sure they will want to help out. You can also let everyone in your extended family know (politely and tactfully, of course) that you are really excited about raising this money and that it would really help you out if they could give you money instead of gifts this year. But make sure you only ask those who would ordinarily give you gifts. Finally, give anything you make to your parents to hold on to for you. The temptation will be very strong to spend what you earn, but if you do you will never make your goal.

If you're willing to develop some work ethic simply do this - go to supermarkets and places like Wal-Mart. Ask the general managers to give you permission to stand outside the stores and sell your candy. Go to stores in different parts of town. Devise a selling method. Figure out how you're going to approach people, and what you'll say to them...As time goes by, your success rate will increase, as you hone your selling skills...You'll meet your goal in no time.

Hit up all of your mom's friends to buy the candy. Go door to door, but bring a friend if you do to be safe.

I agree, work hard. Ask every adult you know to take some to work with them. Hit up all your neighbors, but no strangers, please. Ask your local market if you can set up a table outside their store.
Ignore the person who posted right after me. She is a sad little stalker.

Walk around the block. Give candy to those you trust that can sell to people they know.
