Usually, statistics like that mean that delivery comes really soon. The first thing you will see is the contractions will become regular and will come faster. When contractions are about 7 to 5 minutes apart you should definitely go to the hospital. Then it should be a matter of a couple of hours, but every person is different.

Good luck!

Average labor time start to finish for first time moms 12-16 hours.

First stage labor (less than 4cm dilation) lasts approx. 1/2 the time, so 6-8 hours.

Second stage (up to 8cm) labor accounts for most of the rest.

10cm third stage of labor, shortest stage, occurs which includes actual birth.

Sounds like you've got a while... anywhere from 6-9 hours, maybe more. Of course, I'd still grab my bag and head to the hospital- some moms are blessed with short labors. :-)

sounds soon but everyone is different. With my first it took me a week to go from 2 CM dilated and 70% effaced to 4CM and 90% effced and thats when my water broke 3 weeks early.

It could be 3 hours or 30 hours. Everyone is different. Generally speaking average 1st pregnancies are between 8-12 hours. Good Luck.

It's different for everyone. I've been 100% effaced for 6 weeks, and 1cm dilated for 4 weeks. I've known people who have been like you and gone into labor the next day, and I've also known people who haven't gone into labor weeks after effacement and dilation.

well, mine took another week. literally.

so, that said with my 3rd child, I thought that would be the same problem, went home, scarfed down pizza and wouldn't ya know it... minutes later where hitting the road 60 mph and I still almost didn't make it to the hospital.

honestly, if you went to the doc today and he said that, if you walk alot for the next 24 hours, you'll probably help yourself go into labor. Thats what they used to do with the stubborn 1st timers at the hosptital I went too... it didn't usually fail, I'd see them being carted off to delivery after watching them walk circles around our floor for a little while.

good luck.

It depends call your doctor if your water breaks go to the hospital after your water breaks they give you 48 hrs to deliver baby because of infection risks .I was hoving around 1 cent for a month but never delivered naturaully mine were c section because they had footballer shoulders and I wasnt big enough .My suggestion is try not to think about it do excersise like walking (shopping) dont put yourself in danger but strenous excersise helps .Ive heard sex works but Ive never heard 1st hand .My mom was out walking at community yard sales for both my brothers and that night they came .

It could be a week or more, but unlikely. When I was 2 centimeters I went into labor within a week. Good Luck and congratulation's!
