I looked on www.weather.com yesterday for the 10 day forecast on 10.20.07 (the day ofmy wedding) and it was calling for a 5% chance of showers. I looked today it was caling for a 60% chance. How accurate it the weather, and does it change from day to day? I'm a litle upset because my wedding is outside. Please give me some answers. Thanks

If I were you, I wouldn't trust weather that is more then 3 days away. Predicting weather is a complected method. This is because of chaos theory. Its very simple. It means that any thing such as a small movement of a butterfly's wings could cause weather patterns to change. This is because if you do a small change in something for example if u have a # 3.000001 and then times it by 1 million. it would give you 3000001. But if you were to say that 3.000001 is the same as 3 since there's barely any difference. If you again multiply by one million u would get a value that's one less then what its supposed to be. lol. pretty interesting though.
Any how now you could understand how difficult it could be to predict weather patterns. Basically the stronger computers we have the better weather patterens we could predict.

I check the weather everyday on at least 3 web sites and I can tell you that www.weather.com isn't very accurate most of the time. Everyday it says that there is a 10% chance that it will rain that day when the sun is shining and there is not a cloud in the sky. You wedding is still 7 days away so I wouldn't worry about it too much yet. There is always a chance that it won't rain at all because 10 day forecast seems to change from one day to the next. However, it is always smart to have a back up for an outdoor wedding, like a canopy.

Actually they are pretty good at weather predictions. Its the weather that won't cooperate. You can count on the forecast getting more accurate the closer to the day. Anything more than 3 days out is only a good guess. You should have an alternative wedding site you can change to a day or 2 before the wedding.

Long term forcasts (more than 72 hours) are based upon computer models. The computer compares patterns that have been recorded before and base predicyions on those frontal movements.
The three day forcats is much more accurate as it is based upon visual observations using satellite and radar images. Usuall the best forcat is a two day forcast.
Weather changes! Weather can be affected by heat, moisture, etc. That is why it may only be a 5% in the 10 day but 60% in the three day forcast. The computer models don't take all things that are current into its prediction. It is simply based upon historical data. Usually the modeling is fairly accurate but, weather changes!

Why not prepare for the worst and hope for the best. That is, if rain is going to ruin your big day then have a back up plan. Rent a canopy and a tent if you are outside, So what if it rains anyways Have fun, a little water won't hurt you, This will be something to laugh at when the kids get their big day. Wish you the best!! May it last forever!!

If your wedding is a month or so away then don't even bother looking at the weather. It always changes.
