The similarities: both the 'Lun Yu' (The Analects) and the 'Dao De Jing' (Tao Te Ching) are great philosophical works of ancient China. They both deserve to be read by those who love wisdom, they are both translated into many different languages and widely read today.

The differences: the Analects consist of the sayings of Confucius, as written down by his students, and with other works by Confucius and Mencius make up the Confucianist canon. The Dao De Jing consists of the wisdom of Lao Zi (Lao Tsu) as written down by one person, and with the works of Zhuang Zi and Lie Zi make up the Daoist canon.
