...that 12 year old boy who spoke out about President Bush's veto of the SChip program was first condemned by the conservative extremists and he is now receiving death-threats! Are we so politically-biased in this country that we have to attack children for speaking their minds?

Considering that people used to fight duels over political disagreements....I don't know what the heck you mean by "getting" mean spirited.....

Do a little research into what has passed for political debate in this country and you'll have an entirely different appreciation for the bitchy whining that goes on today.

And by the way...who cares what a child has to say about grown up affairs?

Is that kid going to help pay for the program? Did he vote for any of the officials involved? Is he educated or trained in some fashion to be a reliable expert in any of the aspects covered in the legislation? Does he have anything other than an opinion to offer?

Would you let a 12 year old make all the decisions in your life?

Why should anyone else?

Get your facts together before making a blanket assumption that normal people are threatening the life of a 12 year old.

Yes. U.S. politics have been far too mean-spirited for some time. Democrats, Republicans and Independents are all to blame. They've all gotten very nasty in their attempts to gain power or keep it.

Where have you been, I thourght it was getting "mean-spirited" when a gang of Union people invaded and threatened the workers in a Republican party HQ. Oh I suppose you didn't notice that? Or the slashing of tires on get out the vote vans conservatives were using. (Interesting the son of the Democratic chairman was involved in that) Or the attempt of a Democratic worker to run over a Republican congresswoman in Florida. Yes very meanspirited and criminal.

Politics, no. But this simply is one more proof that the extreme right are not real Americans. They don't believe that anyone--even a 12-year old child--should be allowed to sayanything that doesn't conform to their own ideology.

That's unAmerican. Simple as that.

Politics seems to have become a blood sport. Any opinion about anything is now fair game to be attacked. I guess if you're going to stick your nose into the fray you maybe should expect it might get punched.
