I think a lot of it is because they CAN - they got a taste of freedom when they learned how to drive, and all they do is WANT MORE!!!

Combine this with the negative influence of TV (be it MTV, BET, or wherever they are getting their "ideas" of how 20-somethings "live") - and you've got a DANGEROUS situation on your hands!

And finally - throw Sex, Drugs, and Alcohol into the mix - ALL of which are seen as "Fun", "Exciting", "Cool", "Harmless"...

(YES - I said they SEEM HARMLESS - but of course, we ALL know differently!!!)

Sadly, THESE are the most dangerous years of "growing up" - those who fall into this trap (as opposed to those who can CONTROL THEMSELVES when they go out) end up learning a VERY hard lesson.

In many of these cases, it DOES take a harsh wake-up call (be it Jail, a trip to the ER for an Overdose, etc.) to finally break them of the habit.

As I mentioned earlier - not ALL in that age group (yourself included) are OBSESSED with partying. Like MOST things in the world, it's all a matter of MODERATION. Go out and have a WILD AND CRAZY night on your BIRTHDAY (or perhaps New Years) - but not EVERY weekend.

You're on the right track, now if there were only a few million like you out there.

Organize, get to know others thinking the same thing. Don't get stuck on the whole right wing/left wing BS, just find a way to make a difference. Help someone.

It started in the 60's and its just gotten worse. I graduated in 1981 and everyone partied, boys and girls. Guys have always treated women like meat, but it has gotten worse because (I feel) the rap music today signs that tune. The rap artist talk crap about women, calling us ho's, bi^&*ches, and talk about how they treach their women. And the young men of today listen and pick it up. I catch my son all the time singing that crap. He'll tell me things like, "if my wife did that I knock her out." And let me tell you, his lights are the ones about to be put out. He says he's kidding, likes to get a rise out of me. But everytime he say something negative about a woman I am there to correct him. Its the rap "crap" they're dishing out. Go to church you'll find a nice guy there or the library. Good luck and stay strong.
