Something overflowing with personality.

Truly unique.

Metropolitan.

Clean.

Relatively laid-back.

And also, I would like a city with a good head on it's shoulders. An intellectual if you will.

Depends on what area of the US you want to live in.
Being a midwest girl, personally I would recommend Minneapolis, MN and Madison, WI.

Very clean cities, awesome music scenes, they are college towns, and have the nicest people. Madison is quite a bit smaller but you're not to far from Milwaukee/Chicago. Lots of bike trails and coffee shops in Mad town. Both Madison and Minneapolis are the most intellectual/urban/cleanest towns in the Midwest.
