I would totally give up on the concept of reintegrating criminal offenders back into society.
The guiding principle would instead be that of balancing the accounts of the people involved.
Steal from someone and you get to pay them back. If you can do it from your own resources / income...then no further action required by the justice system.
If you steal and you can't pay them back, then you get to work at a necessary task under strict supervision until you pay off your debt.
Harm someone physically and you get the exact same harm done to you, under the same conditions.
Do a hit and run, break someone's leg as you run them over, and you get the same leg run over on the same road....and no medical treatment for you until the same amount of time has elapsed as it did for your victim to be found and treated.
The penalties for rape and murder should be obvious.
No expense spared for DNA testing, forensics, etc. to be as certain as possible that no innocent be found guilty.
But that also means that the accused gets to be chemically debriefed by professional interrogators, who are pretty good at getting past fabrications to the raw truth of the matter under conditions where the human mind lacks the ability to come up with a lie instead of just relating events as they happened.
The same thing goes for anyone who brings an accusation against someone. In time all things become known, and all motives also.
But it will never happen, so get used to the schitty system we are stuck with today, where justice is what you can or cannot afford, and punishment rarely lands on those who deserve it.

The public defender's office would have the same exact budget, manpower and other resources as the prosecutor's office.
There is a perception that public defenders just get overloaded with cases and don't have time to do anything but try getting folks to plead out.
Every sentencing order would also list the average sentence given for that crime in that jurisdiction (for all convictions over the past 5 years)...so special treatment to the rich and famous would be painfully obvious.
Truth in sentencing also applies to the actual length of the sentence. If Judge Dave gives you 7 years, you serve 7 years minimum. Instead of time off for good behavior, I'd add time for bad behavior.

definite, we are a civilized u . s ., and we do have the final to terminate the life of particular criminals. Why might anybody think of that charging a teenager who dedicated an extremely terrible crime might desire to be taken care of as a toddler? they seem to be a vicious sociopath who ought to be separated from society. Our equipment of justice is probably no longer prefect, even though it particularly is for confident way previous to different international locations. Nowhere else interior the international are the criminal's rights safer than in our equipment. seem on the Amanda Knox case, in Italy. She replaced into tried in Italian courtroom, with trumped up evidence and flat out lies, then the state sues her for slander for accusing the guards of mistreating her. I even have been a highway cop and a corrections officer, and ot pay attention human beings which incorporate your self pontificating approximately how undesirable our justice equipment is makes me prefer to puke. you haven't any longer have been given any theory what you're speaking approximately, secure as you're from the seamier area of life by utilising the ladies and adult males in uniform who commit their lives to preserving you so which you will spew your vitriol. carry out a little genuine learn before you bypass flapping your gums approximately issues you haven't any longer have been given any theory of.

Drug addicts would get enforced RESIDENTIAL rehab, where they were forced to live in a treatment center until they were cured and had some forced job training.
Mentally ill would have enforced mental institution until they are well enough to live on the outside and then MANDATORY visits to a psychiatrist FOREVER.
Let's see....that would take care of about 90% of criminals. The rest I would just execute or let them serve their time with plenty of hard work to pay for the cost of their prison sentence. Maybe they could make licence plates?

if money were no object?? --- i would buy a nice place somewhere quiet near the sea i think --- save the taxpayers a fortune and NOT try to change anything ---- why??? what is in place is accepted and until the people want a change anything else will be a waste of time effort and money --- when the people want a change it will happen by legislation by public acclaim and use or by revolution

There is an old saying that goes to the effect that "...an 'Honest' politician is one who stays bought after He has taken Your money..." I would enforce that principle. You get paid by the state You work for the state. Corruption is something that happens across the state line.

Another great question tonight and you too deserve a star. That would be so nice cause no money then the judicial system will fail, cause who wants to work for free. Then the bad part comes when the world will be in great distress, doing what they please and no protection. So I would suggest that money have no play with our judicial system.

I'd like to see all the lifers (rapists, murderers and child molesters in particular) to be placed in sparring matches! A fight to the death. I think that'd be cheap and entertaining for the tax payers.
