Same reason I'm a democrat, I suspect.

A lot of people left the Democratic party, claiming, "I didn't leave the party, the party left ME!"

I chose not to. I am a democrat, not a liberal, not a socialist.

I hate the socialism slide my party is undergoing.

Freedom of Speech (even for republican talk show hosts)
Freedom of Expression (even for fundamentalist Christians)
Equality (even for white males).

I can't stomach some of the political bigotry he indulges in, but I can understand some of his dislike.
