b is the answer because if you do:
1+3=4
4+3=7
7+3=10
10+3=13
and so on

It's actually C. 3n-2
The question is asking how to get the value based on its POSITION, not how to get the next value in the sequence.

1 is in the first spot so 3 - 2 = 1
4 is in the 2nd spot so 6 - 2 = 4
7 is in the 3rd spot so 9 - 2 = 7
and so on.

B, if you want to solve the problem, you plug in 1 to n, and see if it comes up with 4, and then you plug in 4 to n to see if you get 7.
