I was wondering if anyone would tell me how to calculate an event in a combination problem. For example, how would you calculate 4 choose 2?
Is it a simple calculator function, or is it something more complex?
If anyone can help, that would be awesome!!!
Thanks

Without knowing your calculator model, it is hard to say.

Most calculators won't have a dedicated function for finding the number of combinations of choosing r items out of n items ("n choose r").

The general formula for "n choose r", or C(n, r) is:
n! / (r! (n - r)!)

"!" is the factorial function, which your calculator more likely has.

If your calculator has nCk or nPk buttons it is simple. If not you can use the following formula:

n choose k = n! / k! (n-k)!

Even better you can go to Google and type "4 choose 2" and it will give you the answer faster than your calculator.

Combination formula: 4!/[(2!)(2!)] = 4*3*2!/[2!*2!] = 12/2 = 6

good luck!

If an exponent is in the denominator, it has the negative value of what it would be in the numerator. therefore 9.2*10^-3 / 6.3*10^6 is the same as 9.2*10^(-3-6) / 6.3 which can be simplified to 9.2*10^-9 / 6.3 This is also the same as (9.2/6.3) * 10^-9 so your answer is 1.5 * 10^-9.
