Libby, as in short for Elizabeth. Elizabeth is an okay name but every one I've known with that name hated to be called Libby.

I always think of Libby as being short for Elizabeth. I personally dislike "nicknames" as names, so I'd name her Elizabeth and call her Libby, that way if she wants to, she can use any variation of Elizabeth when she gets older, but she'll always be Libby to you.
(by the way, I was made fun of as a child for my name.... they used to call me Gilligan like from Gilligan's Island....so then I was lucky enough to be able to use the nickname, Jill, starting in like 2nd grade to avoid further teasing, but if my name was such where I couldn't have an easy nickname, I'd probably be even more traumatized by the experience!)

I love the name. My best friends name is libby. It makes me think of a smart and nice girl. It is a cute name too, and it is your decision and she won't get made fun of at least if her name is not tiler.

I'm a Brit and "Libby" is the trade name for a food in England, so for that reason - I'd have to give it a thumbs down - sorry. Terri

All names have associations to them and usually that determines your likes and dislikes. I have a friend called Adolf, and imagine his cross to bare in life. Libby reminds me of an acquaintance of the same name. I didn't like her.
