Gee, that seems unjustified to induce you if you don't deliver on your due date. Lots of women go past their due date and it's not a sign of a problem. Most doctors don't consider induction until week 41 or 42 and even then some will let you keep going if all is well - (no fetal distress).
Try taking vigorous walks. Take red raspberry leaf caplets to stimulate Braxton-Hicks contractions. Or try the baby dance.

First of all it does NOT hurt to have your labor induced. This is just a bunch of other women telling you scare stories. Allot of women tell things after their labor delivery that are just to get sympathy. There are things to make you labor start like giving yourself an enema. Fun huh? Or drinking Castor oil to give yourself an internal enema.
Relax, and have your baby the way he or she comes. Don't listen to them. If you go into labor the way of a laxative you could have a hard labor.
My experience with induced labor went like this. The nurse at the hospital gave me an IV (didn't hurt) I sat in the room for six hours with no labor pains at all. Around 3pm the Dr came in and broke my water. Then the contractions began in earnest, and I felt the need to push. My daughter was born at 3:33 PM. Yes it was intense for the last part, but just when I though it was really PAIN she was born and I forgot all about it.

Supposedly sex can induce labor, as well as taking a walk. There are tons of old wives tales... black and blue cohosh, castor oil, primrose oil, etc. I wouldn't suggest any herbs though, generally they cause diarrhea. I was induced with my first, I had a very long labor that ended in a c-section because her heart rate started to drop rapidly. The actual induction does not hurt, and the contractions were no worse than with my second child who was a vbac. Take the weekend to relax and enjoy the last few days before motherhood.

Hmm. I trying really hard to figure out why your doctor is telling you what he is going to do: has he heard of informed consent? In a nutshell: if there is no medical reason (for safety of you or baby) then there is no reason to induce. It is YOUR decision then. Did your dr. tell you of the risks of being induced?
Most women tell me that the contractions were twice as painful with Pitocin than without.
I would certainly let my voice be heard if it was me.
Birth blessings.

Raspberry leaf tea and lots of it.....sex......walking..... gentle exercise.....you can even try castor oil which is known to have an effect.
Dont let them bully you into a induce unless their are problems etc as some babies just need a lil time and it doesn't hurt to go up to 2 weeks over your due date provided there are no problems...i went over with my last.

my 2nd daughter was born after my labor was induced. it didn't feel much different than when i went into labor naturally w/my 1st daughter. try not to worry too much about it. there's no getting around the fact that labor....regardless of how it's started.......is going to hurt. read up on ways to relax during labor. massage, lamaze, showering, sitting on an exercise ball.
Good luck and enjoy! The whole process is amazing!

Well you can go for nice walks at your own pace of course. Or you can have sex both are natural ways of safely and gently inducing labor. Good Luck!!

I started my labor by walking. I did a lot of brisk walking and it jump started my labor. I aslo took castor oil and that worked also. The worst that could happen with the castor oil is you go to the bathroom. But look at it this way at least you wont poop while giving birth.
