Because people follow the players more ... people will buy more NFL paraphernalia ... so indirectly they make alot of money from it... but not directly ...

That why there are lots of fantasy web sites so people will play fantasy football ... because the web sites get advertising money for keeping up the web site and the fans have fun ...

Like JG said, they only get indirect revenue by having increased fan interest in the games.

Last year, MLB tried unsuccessfully to argue that MLB stats were the property of MLB and, therefore, they should receive licensing fees from fantasy baseball companies who make money on it. The courts ruled that the information was public domain and, therefore, MLB could not charge people for the information.

I'm not sure if they make a direct revenue, but I'm sure it helps the bottom line overall by creating more fans.
