Water leaking out of the top of the fill valve (I think). I'm going to try and eith fix or replace myself. Any suggestions? I know nothing about this type of repair, but don't want to call a plumber out.

Is this a pretty easy fix?

It's easy, and you're better off to replace it. You have to turn off the water supply to the toilet, then take off the old one, and replace it with a new one (invest in a roll of teflon tape, it's in the plumbing section) and turn on the water supply and check for leaks...it's maybe a 15-30 minute job, depending on how fast you can turn a wrench. I suggest you read the directions on the new supply fill valve, and adjust the water level as low as possible to save water.

You mean the water flowing to the over flow valve( the one pipe where the flapper installed). If so, then find the top of the fill valve if there's any screw to tighten( the one in the center of fill valve )tighten it or the other way is bend down the rod that holds the float ball that way it push more pressure to the button of fill valve once it hit in the cut off limit. otherwise, just replace it into new fill valve and sets in the cut off limit.
