Hey today i had a problem when i was parked in front of my house. I was parked outside for about 30mins then when i went back outside i see the battery is dead for some reason. i think it was because of my amplifier for my subs. But anyways, i got my car jumped but my dad only left the cable on for like 2 mins and now when i shift into drive it makes a big jolt, whats the problem how do i fix?

Sounds like an unrelated problem. Tranny / electrical system.

Possibly the computer that decides on the shift points has lost its memory when the battery went dead, and it has to recalibrate itself. Check your owners manual, but it will probably sort itself out (sometimes, you have to follow a set proceedure for recalibration, so always chck the manual or talk to a mechanic.)

When jumping your car, the cables should only stay on until the engine starts. Then they should be removed straight away, and your car should be left running for at least 10 minutes - 20 would be better (idling should work, but actually going for a drive is the best way to charge the battery.)

Good luck!

A jolt when you shift has nothing to do with the car being jump started. Get a mechanic to check the motor mounts, and if it's a rear wheel drive car check the universal joints.

Are jumps tarts like pop tarts I like pop tarts. You really need to get rid of any loads draining the battery when the key is turned off. Then run the car by some one who can check the alternator output with the sterio turned up and head lights rear window defoger and see if the alternator is up to the job. No idea what we are working on here. Year make model and miles engine size please?

quit leaving your tart in your car!

this is a long shot, but, your engine may be running at a higher rpm to make up for the low battery.

make sure the blue remote wire on your amp + head unit is connected to a switched lead(off, when the car/key is off)

One problem has nothing to do with the other, have your dad look at it or take it to a mechanic
