This tv show was about striving for the American dream while driving a bus and working at the sanitation department...These guys played not too bright working stiffs...with plots and plans...I loved Jackie Gleason and Ed Norton but I was a mere child at the time
One of these days Alice...one of these days
To the moon Alice to the moon

The thing I liked about the "Honeymooners" was how all the characters were so animated. Ralph Cramden was just an over the top character with all his movements, expressions and dialogue. Alice and Trixie were the perfect straight-man to Ralph and Ed. A little trivia....What was Edward Norton's profession?

I think it was because they were just REAL ppl, and they were corny, just being themselves, no pretense. and as we laughed at them, we could more easily laugh at our own mistakes and silliness. Times were more simple then and I seriously miss it. PPl had morals and ethics. Today there are no taboos, no morals absolutes, its an anything goes society. And, as a society we pay the price.

I miss those good old days, yet I know it wasnt all good. I happen to be white. But, if I had been a black person back then, I dont think I would have many fond memories of way back when.

But, we should be imporiving, instead of getting more hateful as a society. WE have all the new stuff and racism has only increased

Lets bring the GOOD from the good old days back again, and leave the crud back there, making an even better society today. We can do it if we allow God to be the head of everything.

YOu do take me back with this question. Remember Dick Van Dyke show , where they had to sleep in single beds, tho they were married, and then when it changed some, and they went into a double bed, had to keep one leg out??? Those were the good old days when things were left to the imagination.
God bless ppl like you who are willing to take us back instead of so much of the filth we see on here. I am with you all the way.

I remember when ppl thought Bonanza was violent, as it was a western and they had shoot outs.

As Roy Rogers used to sing, HAPPY TRAILS TO YOU< UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN>>>

GOd bless ya.

They also had the June Taylor Dancers, as I remember (that was on his other program). . I think Jackie was a bus driver, and Norton worked in the sewers. I remember one time when he entered a diet contest and won, then he put Norton as the one, before and after picture. It almost worked! I am tying to remember the wifes names. Was it Alice? It has been too many years. I never did see it in re-runs.

I recall one of their funniest skits.
They wanted to move a bureauu out of
the bedroom.
The chest was too heavy.
Norton had an idea - take out the
drawers.
The scene switches as Ralph and
Ed carry the burea through the doorway.
The drawers are piled on top of the chest.

I had an uncle who looked like Art Carney.
The Honeymooners was his favorite show.
I can still hear my uncle's laughter echo
through the back alleys of yesterday.

Thanks for the memories.

I loved everything about the show and the chemistry of the cast, but one of my favorites was when Ralph and Norton were dancing. I wish I could remember the exact episode. Someone help me out lol

Oh yes, that was one of the funniest shows of that time.

What's not to love about two blue collar goofy guys who just seem to screw up all the time?

It was very in line with the "I Love Lucy" series too, and Carol Burnett and Red Skelton series of that time.

All fantastic shows. They may seem silly watching them today but they were something else in their day.

Oh and yes, Alice was ALWAYS right...irritated poor Ralph to DEATH! LOL

It was wholesome "clean" humour about good old fashioned every day life, in married couples...for many years after, our comedies were usually about lonely singles.

They were lower middle class guys, with the kind of jobs men HAVE to take, just to afford living in a cheap apartment.

This is not the "Nanny" type rich home we laughed about more recently, once we were taught to be greedy by incessant TV commercials.

Yes, I LOVED That program so Much..... My Favorite Memory is When Ralph would Yell at Alice and Say:
" I AM THE KING OF THIS CASTLE"! and she would look him square in the Eye, and Say: " BIG DEAL, KING OF NOTHING"! I would laugh my Head Off. (smile) They were a Riot!
