Well, the thing is, bad habits aren't like socks, you can't just take them off. You have to easy out of them. If you're a heavy smoker and you smoke once ever 1/2 hour, work on not smoking for an hour. Then 2 hrs. etc... Breaking habits take hard work. You work yourself into them, now you have to work yourself out of them. But once you've naturally worked yourself out of them, they'll be gone for good.

You exchange a bad habit for a good and positive habit. You must be consistent. Every time you exercise the bad habit, stop, and immediately replace it. Eventually, the new habit takes hold, and the bad habit leaves for good.

Make up your mind to do it and stick to it. I decided to quit smoking a year and a half ago, so I just put them down and quit. I suffered greatly for about a week, but every day I'm glad that I quit.

do things that are fun, that YOU like to do and do that instead of whatever your bad habit is, you'll gain intrest in the thing your doing instead of what your bad habbit is

A lot of desire and discipline. Some people have it, others just don't. Some people will never change and better themselves. It's sad but true.
