Notice how many more fanfics or fanarts are dedicated to others such as Sirius or Lily. When you ask someone who their favorite character is, you are 50 times more likely to here "Snape" then "Harry". Do you think Harry the boy himself is interesting as a character, why or why not?

All the characters are equally interesting, but the thing is that we know everything there is to know about Harry, and we don't know enough about the other characters, that's why there is so much fan-fic on other characters. When they say that for example Snape is their favorite character I'm guessing that he's their favorite after Harry. I think that Harry is everyone's favorite character, but they just say that someone else is. When I say that Luna is my favorite character I actually mean that she's my favorite after Harry, Hermione and Ron.

I love Harry and his journey into the Wizarding world and his growing into manhood.

I think that fansites' fascination with Sirius and Lily comes from the fact that there's a great deal of mystery about these characters.

Sirius spent 12 years in Azkaban for a crime he didn't commit but for which he blames himself. He's a tortured and very romantic character. People also wonder how he emerged from a family like the Blacks with such a radically different set of values. We're told over and over again that Sirius is handsome, and I suspect some readers want to know where and if there was ever someone special in his life.

With Lily, there was always the Lily-Snape business plus questions about her relationships with her parents and Petunia, and how, after the pensieve scene in which she dresses down James for tormenting Snape and for his arrogance, the two of them ever got together.

I think readers like to try to fill in the blanks--the connections--by creating fan fiction.

We know Harry's feelings and thoughts. They're not mysteries to us. We know the nature of his relationships to everyone else in the series. I guess that makes him less interesting to some readers, but definitely not to me.

I think that Harry seems like a less interesting character then the rest of the characters because he is the view of the novel. Harry seems like a quieter person then many of the other characters, and much more an observer then someone like Ron.

And I think JK was making a point to make Harry more of a Normal person that interesting things happen to you. He is an average student, an exceptional athletic...but there is magic about how that you don't expect, and I think that is what draws the characters to Harry, and that has a lot to do with being his mother's and father's son.

I think the least interesting character was probably Charlie. He seemed like the only Weasley with no personality, then again--he was also the Weasley they NEVER seem to mention, so perhaps he doesn't count...

Out of the "main" supporting cast in Harry's world--people who influenced Harry, I think Nymphadora wasn't that interesting of a character.

I think Harry is extremely interesting. Since the stories are always from Harry's point of view, there's very little mystery to his feelings or character. Whereas, not knowing everything about characters like Snape may make them sound more interesting.

But Harry is absolutely my favorite character.

I think that he is one of the least interesting characters. Even though the whole series is based on him he really doesn't have a very interesting personality. There are a lot of other characters that are much deeper and interesting. Harry is brave and modest. You pretty much know that from the beginning. It's the characters that you have to think about and try to figure out that are interesting. Snape is probably the most complex character in the books because you never know what side he is on. I like the people that I have to try to figure out.

Well, no, I wouldn't say that Harry is uninteresting. But since the books are written from his point of view, you know what his thoughts are, and so basically there is the least to wonder about him. You really get to know Harry.
I think, a lot of the time, people are attracted to the characters with dark, mysterious pasts, and you basically know Harry's whole past from book one (minus the details from before his parents were killed, which aren't revealed until the Deathly Hallows). That's basically why I think that Harry is not most people's favorite character.
By the way, I LOVE your Voldemort pic!!

My favorites are Harry:), Hermione, Fred and George, and contained in the starting up of the seventh e book at the same time as he stated bye to Harry i began to love Dudley more desirable. Hes not my renowned yet he changed into nevertheless exceptionally sweet to believe Harry. Oh convinced, AND Snape; he changed into awsome! So complicated and deep. My least favorites are Umbridge(how are you going to not hate her?), Rita Skeeter, and GINNY. She changed into in order that stressful in the course of the books. i imagine that Harry and Hermione could have made a significantly better couple. Harry purely isnt truly the form of youngster to get the 'commonplace' female, you understand what I recommend? Cus he's continuously shown because the 'outcast' at the same time as she's commonplace. Plus, Hermione changed into there for Harry each and each and every of the time.

Well Harry is the most interesting character. There is so much to him, and he is such a good guy, just makes mistakes sometimes, but he is only a kid. Obviously harry is interesting, we are all reading about his life for a reason.

I think the only reason that Harry is not popular in fanfiction or fanart is because he is the main character of the book. We can see into his mind, we know what he feels and thinks. The other characters are more appealing because we do not have as much information. You can easily make up stories because, hey it just might be something that character would do!

Harry's pretty interesting... but he just doesn't have an... interesting personality. It's not fun to write about Harry without adding a whole bunch more to him. Like making him dark, making him smart, making him insane, or getting some guy to rape him.

Now that I think about it, Harry doesn't really have a personality. Besides having a hero-complex.

But still he's interesting! I mean, he's more interesting than the people I know.
