My fans weren't working when I cut the a/c on causing my car (94 fleetwood) to get a lil hot but not overheat only when idling.I changed the relay and the fans started working again but I noticed one of the wires going to the relay was gettin real hot what could make this happen?

Higher than normal amp draw is what causes wires to get hot.
Nothing else.

Maybe your fans are old and drawing too much power?

Temp sensors (and sensors in general) are low voltage and low current devices. If there was a fault, it would actually burn out the ECU (computer) before the wires could get "hot".

You say it was getting real hot. What does that mean exactly? Hot to the touch? Red hot? Was it close to any hot components?

Better yet, try measure the current flow using a DMM (current meter). That is the only way to know for sure.

But given you didn't say that the fuse was blown, I have a feeling that there's nothing wrong.

Good Luck.

Check the relay socket to see if it is corroded or dirty. That could be what took out the relay in the first place.

temperature sensor will NOT make the wire hot at the relay. bad connection, loose connection, or dirty will make the wire hot
