With a mintage of 860,118,839 it is far from scarce. I think the reason you don't see a lot of them is that they are being held not by collectors, but by the general public. That is not to say the proof and mint state ones are not in collectors hands, as well as the special silver clad ones. Most of the general public don't know it, but there are no 1975 dated quarters, 1/2 dollars and Ike dollars. To reach such a high figure they were minted in 1975 as well as 1976. Congress past a law so that it could be done. They are part of America and the drummer was designed by Jack R. Ahr. He won the Treasury contest and received $5000. It is worth holding onto as a historical piece. Only prrof and mint state coins have any value over .25 at this time ,but who knows what the future will bring.
