Is it morally wrong to spend money you don't have and expect your children to pay for it?
Every generation should pay for what it spends. It should be that simple.
Instead, every time a "fiscal conservative" Republican like Reagan and Bush Jr gets elected, they engage in huge deficit spending like there is no tomorow.

GOPer,
You are boasting about a deficit. Notice how you said 6 year low? Who was president 6 years ago? Bush.

I think you are right. Republicans and other conservatives want to return everything to the 'good old days' of the start of the century, socially and fiscally. No limits on corporate activities, no limits on buying and lending, and no taxes - exactly the same conditions that led to the GREAT DEPRESSION!!!
This is a disaster in the making. Rich people stuffing their pockets as the entire country goes over a waterfall. Mark my words.
(Of course the $5,000 question is, can the Democrats do any better?)

You are correct. Repubs should be ashamed for running deficits every year of the W. Bush administration. Repubs are bragging the the deficit is lower than previous years, but IT IS STILL A DEFICIT! Thanks for nothing. Balance the damn budget and stop forcing future generations to pay for Republican budget deficits!
The national debt is now over $9 trillion and the Repubs are responsible for the majority of that debt. I am an independent, so I am angry at both parties for increasing the number of entitlement programs at the expense of future generations.

Whether government deficits are good or bad cannot be decided without examining the specifics. Just as with borrowing by individuals or businesses, it can be good or bad. If the government borrows (runs a deficit) to deal with a severe recession (or depression), to help self-defense, or spends on public investment (in infrastructure, education, basic research, or public health), the vast majority of economists would agree that the deficit is bearable, beneficial, and even necessary. If, on the other hand, the deficit finances wasteful expenditure or current consumption, most would recommend tax hikes, transfer cuts, and/or cuts in government purchases to balance the budget.

Government spending is completely out of control. It doesn't matter if it's a Republican or a Democrat wasting our money. The difference between the two parties is Republicans have no problem with deficit spending and Democrats tax us to death just so they have the budget to waste money on every social program they can dream of.

Bush is NOT a fiscal conservative, he's just not. As a rule of thumb Republicans tend to spend less money than Democrats. Democrats run on increased spending and programs (and always follow through), and Republicans run on government restraint (and sometimes follow through).

Microsoft is the ONLY NYSE company that runs its business on 100% revenue financing. Thats not a coincidence. Personally I want my grandchildren to have higher wages with the same amount of debt compared to lower wages with a slightly lower debt. call me selfish.

It pisses me off. I didn't elect a Republican to the white house just for him to act like a damn liberal puppet.
Republican politicians have forgotten what we are about. They got stupid and have lost a lot of followers because of it.
The good news is that Newt Gingrich is running for president in 2012. That will reunite those of us that feel so betrayed by the unrealistic BS spending that Bush and congress did.

The deficit is now at a 5 year low and declining due to tax cuts. Liberals, if elected will just raise taxes again.

You have it wrong. Your liberal prejudice is showing. Congress is responsible for passing spending bills. No matter which party is in the majority, they are guilty of passing spending bills that exceed revenues.
All members of Congress are responsible. Presidents who sign bills that create deficits are equally guilty.
Governments at all other levels have to have balanced budgets. The same should apply to Congress.

Well, you know what any rational person will say. Now, wait for the Cons and Reps to come in and defend the spending.....all why calling themselves conservatives. These people will defend anything. No shame.
