I know what one is (it basiclly a musical that uses songs from other artists. ex: Mamma Mia used only ABBA songs) Where do i start? how to I get it to the stage. I've never done this before. Do I need to get the artist permission? I would love the help? Thanks!

Yes, you would have to get permission to use the songs and most likely set up an arrangement to pay a certain amount in roalty fees. Here's a whole page about it: http://entertainment.howstuffworks.com/music-royalties.htm/printable

My best guess on this type of thing would be to line up exactly what you're thinking you'd like to use and have a backup song or two in mind for each spot. An agent will be able to help you arrange everything and package it, then you can sell the rights to others to perform your show once word gets out about how good it is :-)

To get the stage, you find out where other shows have successfully premiered. There are plenty of them like the Grove in Upland, CA http://www.grovetheatre.com/, Milwaukee Repertory Theatre http://www.milwaukeerep.com/, Music Theatre of Wichita http://www.musictheatreofwichita.org/. Just like with film and tv ideas, you have to pitch your show so practice that. Protect your work so that no one else can claim it as theirs!

Of course there are many more, but the main thing is to get your show seen. Get good talent and make sure people see your show. If it gets good reviews, publicize that. Make sure you have a website and enter your info into all the main search engines.

good luck!!!
