Mine did -- we rented a hall, and a band, and had food catered. And it was that expensive.

If your reunion committee is smart, they'll also arrange a picnic at the park for free with people bringing whatever they want so that those who can't afford the party can still get together.

I not only attended my reunion(S), I along with MY TEAM have planned our 10th,20th, and we are now planning our 30th. The purpose of having a reunion is to reconnect with POSITIVE ENERGY and the TEAM COLLABORATES in ALL the decision making. No man is an Island. If your committee chair would not listen, then it is the responsibility of the TEAM to then elect another or come to agreement to what is needed. With our HS Committee we all had a function. I am considered the Committee Chair, however my TEAM discuss EVERYTHING and as a TEAM we decide. A reunion is an event to look forward to and not feel dreaded. This first Reunion will set the tone or mood for future reunions. My Graduating class was huge, and our reunions all so has had a wonderful turn out. As for $30.00 pp that is wonderful! Our 10th was about $ 175 pp and was a 2 day event. Very planned out and our class had an amazing time. However it was at a very nice hotel, and it was formal. Our 20th ran around the same or a little less, My class enjoyed it and now for our 30th our class reached out to us to make sure we were doing it. You cannot just throw something together and force people to attend. You have to allow them to feel special and that their interest is your utmost concern. Along with their budgets. It sounds as though your reunion was a throw together and using fofo food to compensate. My classmates were and are AMAZING PEOPLE!!! So when we plan our reunions we want them to know they are our priority. They are spending money to travel if out of town, therefore a great expense for travel and lodging. We had a DJ. Great food, open bar for 2 hours, meet and greet. Just a wonderful time. And for those who knock Reunions, try it and hopefully the person, or individuals planning it focus on your class and not their own needs. Good Luck!

not surprising, I've heard of some being even higher.

I just went to my ten year reunion in august.

It was alright, I wasn't popular or anything, I'd reccomend going.

THere was 29 out of 165 that showed up. it was like $11 for the barbecue.

Most everybody that i talked to was cool, Some i had never talked to like the whole time in high school.

Some looked exactly the same while others looked like crap.

I think some people were stretching the truth about what they had all done though.

I missed my last reunion in August. The committee wanted $50. It cannot be worth $50 to see people once every five years.

high school reunions aren't "supposed" to do anything. every reunion is not the same. obviously your school doesn't have alot of money to throw this party for you.

Typically, yes. How else are they going to pay for the rental hall, food, entertainment, etc? I worked on the executive committee for my graduating year and we don't save the extra money left over (usually there isn't any!) so its not like you guys have some cash getting interest in the bank for 10 years to pay for it.

Mine is $65/ this time.
Yes, they are supposed to cost money. It costs money to rent the big room, hire a band, maybe even have a meal, etc.

We usually have three days of "get together"
Only one is the dinner for which you need to pay money.
