Communting is common in Southern California, check out the area and surrounding areas, San Diego is beautiful, just because you work in El Cajon doesn't mean you have to live there. I have many friends from El Cajon in all different colors mostly say when they were younger Racism effected them but as adults they aren't typically effected.

El Cajon is a very diverse community. There is a wide range of races and nationalities here. I never have known El Cajon to be racist, it may be a bit conservative, but even that is changing. El Cajon, like downtown San Diego is finding it's way and turning the negative into a positive by enhancing the community and redeveloping the city. It has a bright future here and I would consider working and living here if I were you. I do and do not regret it.

I am a person of color myself, and lived in El Cajon for 3 years, and NEVER met a racist. If this city was a racist place than Arabs wouldn't choose to live here. The largest Arab population lives in El Cajon.

El Cajon has good and bad spots, just like any other community. It is lower income in certain areas, and there are parts of it that I wouldn't want to live in....but I've never heard El Cajon to be racist, partially because it is pretty diverse in nationalities.

You should apply. El Cajon is NOT a racial city. The city is inland about 12 to 15 miles from the coast. It's close to the valley and does get hot there. If you can take the heat, they go for it.

I would have to say it is racist from the prospective of it is nearly all Hispanic, Spanish speaking and every other race seems to be unwelcome. I am white and do not feel comfortable in El Cajon!

As a Puerto Rican girl born and raised NY, I think all of San Diego County is racist as hell and in total denial, straight up. Lots of nationalities live here, but I get dirty looks all the time from all races when I am with my white husband, and I always here people talk crap about the Mexican population and the few brothers and sisters that live here. I used to live in Linda Vista, people were like "but thats a Mexican neighborhood!" Gasp! Now I live in City Heights and people are like "gross, you live in the ghetto" HA! HA! HA! Yeah, it must be the ghetto when a bunch of working class, brown people live together in the same neighborhood, idiots.
