Exactly. The PJ never claimed to have damning evidence against him, yet he was bashed in the media, and accused of all sorts (including paedophilia, and was dubbed a monster.) However, the PJ say they have evidence against the McCanns, and the McCanns are treated like heroes, and the PJ are the ones who are attacked this time. It's totally unfair, and if Robert Murat sued the McCanns (and their friend who claimed to have seen him carrying Madeleine) for defamation of character, I wouldn't blame him in the slightest.

Hopefully the Portuguese Police have silenced Murat and are hoping to lull the McCanns to their own demise.. It could be a clever tactic that will pay off big time in the end......
If not, this man should receive compensation big time for all the suffering he has had to go through and sue the backsides off the McLiar lot... They have ample funding.......

It's kind of a no-brainer! The parents should have been prime suspects from Day One right up until the case is solved, purely based on statistics! I blame the British government for putting so much political pressure on the Portuguese police to NOT scrutinize the pair - to let Kate skip early interviews on the basis of "not feeling well", to allow them to tamper with evidence (let Kate keep Cuddle Cat; give them back the Renault), to allow them to talk to witnesses and even have a meeting in a hotel with all the members of their group to get their stories straight. It just defies belief. Now, if Kate and Gerry McCann are innocent of any wrongdoing other than leaving their children alone, proper investigation/interrogation of the pair might have cleared them early on.

Its true when they say 'what goes around, comes around'. That is what has happened to the McCanns. Its a good job that Murat has been strong enough to come through this, and keep his dignity. Just as he will always be associated with the case, Kate and Gerry, regardless of what really happened, will always have half the nation convinced that they are guilty.

If he is innocent this is a real life ruining event for him and I feel sorry for him for that. Unless I hear real evidence against him I will maintain that view. The McCann's mates tried to point the finger at him, but since they have a problem remembering what they've already said, I don't count anything they say as being reliable. I don't see that anything could make up for the damage to his reputation, as it is irreparable.

I don't understand the Portuguese judiciary system and don't know what status being a suspect has over there. For all I know it's a regular part of police proceedings and not seen in the same light it would be in the UK.
How much do you know about the Portuguese judiciary system?

Robert Murat has a perfect right to sue..................Kate,Gerry and their three friends, from the bar,who told the Police that they saw Murat that night. If he has a real sense of humour he ought to sue them for the exact amount of money there is in the limited company fund the McCSCAMMS have got going.

Well, I read that the PJ were saving him as a witness for the prosecution so that he could nab the Tapas 3 who wrongly dropped him in it.
What a twist that would be eh? We'll just have to wait and see - if he's innocent he'll be released from his arguido status and maybe he'll be associated with something more controversial than Madeleine's disappearance.
