I didn't. I had special places in the trees where I could nestle and read but not an actual tree house.

Three treehouses, two underground forts, and several bamboo enclosures complete with an empty bottle to play "spin the bottle," and a half pack of someone's mom's stolen Salem cigarettes...singing...

"Those were the days, my friend, we thought they'd never end..."

Whatever the kids do...don't let them build one in a Willow Tree...even the thick branches are too brittle...Crash!

(Incidently...I used to fantasize about living in that cool treehouse that the Swiss Family Robinson built on that island they were stranded on...talk about tree house luxury...wow...)

Let me know if you change your mind about being rescued...you may not need rescuing...but we could pretend...I could use one of those long tubes from a Christmas wrapping paper cylinder as a sword...

On guard, you dastardly knight who is holding my lady captive...!

Same with me. I had a favorite tree I could sit in, but no platform or "house". I also had a big lilac bush that had a little passageway to the very center (which was dead and cleared out), and I used to hide there for some privacy (4 younger brothers and sisters), and read. None of the other kids ever figured out that there was a hiding place there! I always dreamed of having a "Swiss Family Robinson"-type treehouse, or even one like Tarzan. Maybe someday, if I win the Reader's Digest sweepstakes ...
