What about the ones who were abused as a child themselves?

And why is it acceptable for people to go on about how
pedophiles should be tortured to death?

I'm talking about pedophiles, not perverted old men who like to **** teenagers. That's another question.
'

Oh and I'm not telling you to "be easy" on them. I was asking for your thoughts on the subject.

Those of you who are throwing insults at me can get you panties out of a bunch. If you really cared about the victims that much, you'd be volunteering to help them, instead of sitting on your lazy *** in front of the computer.

No. However, I do think that labeling them evil without attempting to understand what is going on with them does more harm than good. I also think that lumping sexual acts that are mutual in with actual child rape does not help the issue. Never has a problem been helped by generalized condemning without attempting to understand and be proactive. Pedophilia is common place and has been since the dawn of mankind. There needs to be a rational dialog about it.

Edit: All of you people who would rather not discuss the issue, just watch pedos burn at the stake - do you realize that you actually guarantee that this social problem will continue? Do you really want to do something about it or just have knee-jerk reactions that solve nothing?

there is no reason to feel sorry for them, they are disgusting predators. They can cry and whine all they want about being abused themselves but that is no excuse. I was abused as a child and I did not grow up molesting children. That is a cop out. If you were abused then that is even more of a reason not to hurt children, because you know how horrible it is and how bad it can mess up your life, a decent person would never wish that on anyone.
Pedophiles are the worst kind of vicitmizer because they victimize Innocent children, that is why they should be locked up forever. They take an Innocent and potentially good, strong individual who will grow up and contribute a lot to society and they steal their innocence and childhood and turn that child into a shell of a person. Making that child more likely to grow up to have a drug and alcohol problem, relationship problems, depression, sexual issues, suicidal tendencies, and many other issues that this person might not have had if there were not abused. They have had their soul murdered. So I believe their punishment should be for the rest of their life because their abuse does not stop when they stop, it lasts a lifetime!
So yes, it is perfectly acceptable for people to go on about punishing pedophiles because they deserve it, and much more...

No, I don't. I know in a lot of cases it is a sickness, but unfortunately--my sympathy is more reserved for the victims of these crimes. It is well known that these people can't be CURED, so I feel sorry for past victims and future victims that we can't get it right in the justice system. The sentences are not harsh enough and we put these people right back out there where the likelihood of them doing the same thing is almost 100%. Furthermore, now more than ever, the pedophiles are KILLING their victims to slow down how quickly they will be caught. This wasn't quite as rampant when I was a child. I don't think they should be tortured to death, but they do NOT belong on the street ever again.

No I don't. As an adult, I cannot understand why some people cannot control their less attractive urges. I don't think they want to control them and that in itself means they bring trouble to their own door. I think its even worse for them to conduct their activities if they too were abused as children - they surely know then the misery it caused more than anyone. They also know that the urges they have are not 'right' but they continue to indulge nevertheless. There are no excuses. Equally, as a parent, I know how angry I get when I hear about cases in the news and yes, I do get very unpleasant thoughts about what I would do if I caught one of them. I think its because they give nothing and take everything. Ask the same question about rapists - are they worthy of sympathy? And lastly, I know many people who have been sexually abused as children and would never dream of hurting anyone in this way themselves. They suffer daily and will do for the rest of their lives - thats why most people are so passionately against them.

I'm sorry for anyone who was abused as a child, but most sorry for the child who is being abused (by a pedophile).

Part of being a responsible member of society is taking responsibilities for your shortcomings. Nobody has a perfect life. If you've been especially unlucky, this still doesn't give you the right to cause harm to others.

I'm sorry for people who grow up in poverty also, but this doesn't give them the right to mug little old ladies.

And, by the very nature of child abuse, the victims are tortured. Why should the perpetrators be coddled?

no, i never feel sorry for them. in a way molesting children is almost worse than committing murder. that child has is going to have serious issues to overcome, and in a lot of cases, they may not be able to have children due to the physical damage these pedophiles cause. These children are going to need just as much counseling as these pedophiles need. Some cases are caused by childhood abuse, but in murder cases the murderer was also probably abused as a child. If you ever have a child who becomes a victim of one of these pedophiles, I seriously doubt you would feel sorry for them anymore.

I know I am going to get a thousand thumbs down for this, but I have to come to your defense a little and let you know that I do "sometimes" feel sorry for them. It is a very sick thing to have these feelings. I think that somewhere along in there lives they have had these things or other things done to them. It is a very sad vicious cycle. I think that in addition to prison they need psychiatric care as well. I don't want people to get me wrong, I am not defending what they do. I know that it is our main concern to protect our society. I don't feel very sorry for the sick guy in Florida that took that little girl Jessica out of her room at her own house and raped and killed her. I think the ones that show true remorse and take responsibility for the things that have done are the ones I feel sorry for. I know a lot of people do not agree with the way I feel, but we are all different and I find that I am sensitive person who usually tries to see the good in everybody.

My first question would be to you, have you ever been molested?

If you had you wouldn't have to ask that question. Pedophiles are deeply disturbed. They don't take into account what the life of the victim will be like after if they even make it through.

On this subject I say we should adopt the "Eye for an Eye" way of punishment.

And as to why is acceptable for people to go on about punishment, it is because it is deserved.

Not really because they have their whole lives and surroundings to show them that it's wrong. They have the law and examples of others to show them it's wrong. ANd at the very least, Law & Order: SVU tells us it's wrong. With all of that, there's no way a person could possibly NOT know it's wrong.

I don't feel bad for people who willingly do things they know are VERY VERY wrong. I don't know why a person like that deserves my pity. In addition to ruining their own lives by doing this, they're ruining a child's. It's sick.

Also, I don't think that any person should have a say in whether another person lives or dies, so I think it's very sad that people want other people to die. I know they're terrible people who've done terrible things, but if you want someone to die, that's murder. And murder's not much better, I think.

No, if anything I expect those who were abused to the end the cycle. Lack of self-control is a weakness and its not a justifiable excuse for any action. Be it theft, drug addiction or pedophilia.

Have you ever had a family member's life ruined by someone who molested them? Have you ever lived with the daily struggle and fear that they do? Have you ever had to look somoene you love in the eye and see that they are just as afraid of you as they are a stranger because of what some ****** did to them to satisfy some mishandled issue from their past?

IF not, I wouldn't pass judgement on those who wish the worst for these people.

NO WAY! I do not ever feel sorry for sick pedophile perverts or whatever caused them to be this way. I could care less about these evil doers. They need to get help for themselves and not abuse children! They are sick in the head and should not be allowed out in society!

I do however feel sorry for the poor innocent victims and they have my love and prayers.
