Well the first thing is....you need a job! How can you pay rent if you don't have a job?

Second, you'll have to see how they want the rent paid, weekly or monthly. You'll also need to know what they're security deposit costs, what utilities they cover (electricity, water, gas) if any, You'll need a phone, renters insurance is always suggested.

The thing about paying three months rent for your deposit, well, that depends on who you rent the place from. Some require you to pay the security deposit PLUS first and last month's rents before you move in.

Whatever the case though, you'll need a job to pay for those bills you'll incur, or at least have someone who'll be covering them for you.

You're doing your GCSEs, have no job and want a flat that costs 210 quid a week?? Well, start with a job that pays at least £630 a week! Oh, maybe not whilst you're studying for your exams. Hmmm... A quandry.

Prioritize!

1. GCSEs.

1.a. Uni??

2. Job.

3. Flat.

4. Boyfriend.

Figure your rents will be due monthly so that's about £850, plus £850 for a deposit. £1,700 to get the keys. Plus another £300 for utility deposits. Figure a few hundred for utilities and council tax, TV license, yadda yadda and suddenly you're talking real money here. Without even a job, you're nowhere near ready for your own place. Remember those priorities!
