A lot of colleges are moving away Pre-med as a major. The fact is besides the core science requirements, you can take any other classes you want towards a major. I know a film studies major who took all the required science courses, did well on the mcats, and got into medical school.

What a lot of students do is declare a bio/neuro/chem/exercise sci or something similar as their major. That way if you decide med school isn't what you want, you have a degree that you can do something else with.

Honestly what I would truly recommend is that you reconsider your career choices. Especially if you plan on becoming a doctor in the USA. only a very small fraction of those who start down this path actually finish. and even fewer are able to be successful practitioners. I would recommend that you find yourself a good job working in the medical field and work your way up that way. perhaps working for physician or a clinic and get some practical experience in how things work in that industry. If you still want to persue the education part, then go ahead, but if that crashes (as it does about 80% of the time) then you will be able to make it doing something else in your industry. But when you do decide to go, decide on which 4 year college u wish to attend, and then ask them what classes you should take at the 2 year college. then you will know what to take, and you wont waste your time and money on classes you dont need. Hope this helps. BTW: I went to college, I have a degree, and an engineering licence. and if I could do it all over again, I would never have gone.

The list of best schools for Pre-Med is identical to the list of best undergraduate schools. The Ivy League Schools, great private schools like Duke, Northwestern, Stanford and the better public universities like Berkeley, Michigan, Virginia and UNC are the better places to go for pre-med.

You can major in anything -- as long as you meet the requirements. It is always a good idea to do more than the minimum requirements -- so majoring in Biology or Chemestry would be a good idea.

I've included a link to a ranking of colleges below.
