I have no children. My friend and her husband are having their first baby, a boy in December. I'm supposed to bring advice to the baby shower for the new parents. So my question is; What advance do you have to give to new parents?? Thanks, greatly appreciated!

The best advice I recieved is to remember to always smile. That is the most important interaction you could have with a newborn to show them love. They dont know the defintion of it yet, but they will feel it when you hold them and smile.

I am mom to 4 children who are now 28, 26, 22, and 10. I also have an almost 6 month old grandson. My husband and I have been married for 30 years. My favorite advice to give at a baby shower is this: "Keep your couple relationship important in your lives. When the baby comes, he/she will consume your days for many years, but one day, that little tiny baby will be all grown up and out on his own. You and your spouse don't want to find yourselves suddenly living with a stranger. Keep the passion alive in your marriage, communicate, get away alone on a regular basis, and remember you were a wife/husband before you were a mom/dad. Working to make your marriage healthy makes you a better parent.

I'm just like you and had to do the same thing!
Advice for new parents: Don't take everyone else's advice as gold. Figure some things out on your own and do what feels right.

Its always hard the first few days but just follow your instincts and listen to others only if they know what they are doing and follow the doctors orders
