Obama, noting that the vote to authorize the Iraq war came five years ago this week, said Democrats in Congress — including Clinton and Edwards, who was then a North Carolina senator — bear some responsibility for what's happened since.

Obama is absolutely correct.

Hillary and Edwards can publically backtrack on their vote all they want, but ultimately it doesn't excuse their vote to give Bush the authorization to enforce the UN resolutions.

I think it is inappropriate for him to lay judgment since he was not one of the voting senators back in 2002.

Even if both Hillary and Edward had voted "no" to going into Iraq, we would still be in Iraq because the Republicans controlled the Senate back then. By the way, go bring of the argument of why Lieberman voted for going to Iraq War,

He sounds kind of hypocritical because he was Gore's running mate and Gore is opposed to us being in Iraq.

He's right.

Remember what the Democrats were thinking in 2002:

The US was attacked on 9/11, and we Democrats don't want to be seen as weak, or siding with the enemy.
So, we'll vote to give the President everything he wants.
If it works, we'll be right there with him, claiming credit.
If it fails, we can still blame the Republican President and majority for dragging us into it.

It was one of the most cynical yet accurate political calculations yet.

Obama is correct, but he has been playing that trump card for far too long. We know you are the only dem to have never voted for the war in Iraq. You say it all the time.

Next.

As of now he has my vote, but it's getting stale, Obama.

When he makes comments like that he sounds like an idiot. Wait, wasn't this the Senator that wants to bomb Pakistan? Will he "bare responsibility" for the innocent people that die?

Michael M - Lieberman saw the threat as did the others who voted to go. Unlike the others, he has principle and has kept to it.
