I bought a new kitcken with Indesit fridge freezer and it worked fine, however everthing in the freezer has started defrosting and the fridge isnt cold at all.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

I can hear water moving around the thing - dont know what that means..

Sounds horribly like the thermostat has gone. Can you offload anything not defrosted onto neighbours, friends, family etc?? Or try and cook most of it tomorrow and refreeze.

Ohhh and check the thingy at the back (condensor unit)m isn't blocked.

the defrost cycle could be stuck. Look at the bottom of the fridge unit and you should see a small box with a "stick" or little plastic screw sticking out of it. Turn it clockwise about 1/4 a turn and if the fridge kicks on, you more then likely had the defroster stuck in the "defrost" mode. These are reasonable to change to a degree, but cheaper then a whole new fridge or having to add freon these days.

good luck

Dont know if this will help or not - I had a fridge breakdown and it cost me £60 to replace it with a second hand one. as it happens it was replaced with a fridge from a friend of mines who had theirs replaced same day. (we both kept our crispers from the bottom ) she also paid £60. We since found out ------- Fridges work on an outside temperature. not burnt out motors as our mutual electrician had said.
So if your kitchen is cold---- put on the heating before calling the electrician. I now have my friends fridge freezer. she has mine. the electrician has £120. Hope your problem is different.

Have you turned up the freezer setting knob? (Sorry, dumb question if you have.) Other than that, your compressor is probably hosed. It happened to my Maytag piece of junk fridge after 2 months!
